It's a Bird...It's a Plane...It's a...Saucer Squash?

This evening, I went to check on my flower box for a few minutes and see how the plants are coming along.

It wasn't dark out, but still too dark to take pictures. But as I looked down at what I THOUGHT was a zucchini plant...a surprise stared back at me instead.

Baby squashes??? Pattypan squashes??? I couldn't believe it. While the plants have exploded in that little space, I had all but given up hope of ever seeing a vegetable. Looks like I almost gave up too soon.
